Workshop

Workshop

The NJ Friendship House Workshop provides an on-site supportive workplace environment where members, with support from the staff, develop marketable skills in the company of their peers. Members are able to earn commensurate wages within the workshop by performing tasks such as product assembly and disassembly, packaging, labeling, inspection and shipping. In this program, qualified rehabilitation aides are always present to provide support, direction and encouragement, enabling each member to learn and progress at their own level. A member who expresses interest in community employment and demonstrates readiness can be referred by his/her Counselor to Employment Services.

It is important to note that each member develops their individual workshop skills within the framework of a comprehensive and personalized plan of services which considers his or her specific needs, interests and abilities. The primary goal of the workshop is to empower all our members with needed skills, thus enabling them to become productive members of society.
